Fire-Rated Wood Frames & Doors
The FRX series of fire-rated composite or wood door frames (FRX20, FRX45, FRX60 and FRX90 -- substitute GP info here...) allows architects and contractors to comply with the strictest of fire ratings without compromising the aesthetic appeal of natural wood finishes. The frames' unique design allows them to achieve fire ratings with both neutral and positive pressure testing. The frames meet US standard for 20-, 45-, 60-, or 90- minute fire ratings, with US certification provided by Intertek Testing Service, UBC 7-2.
Fire-rated frames are available in an unlimited assortment of hardwood and softwood veneers, as well as paint grade and high pressure laminates to match the doors, wood casings, and trim throughout the interior space. The FRX series is also available in single- or double rabbet, for single or double openings, as well as communicator frames.
The frame design incorporates intumescent material into the frame itself,
thereby eliminating the need for it to be built into the doors. This results in significant cost savings without compromising the ability for the wall system to achieve the necessary fire rating.
The frames come with an adjustable clip system for simple and quick installation, saving the contractor both time and money. Or they can be installed using traditional methods. The product can be delivered fully assembled or in component parts to meet the needs of any customer.
Our fire rated doors are approved in accordance with UL 10 (C), NFPA252, etc. Features and benefits include:
- Fire-rated up to 90 Minutes -- Allows for uniform appearance of all door frames on a project, and ability to match frames with doors, casings, and entire millwork package.
- Adjustable Clip Anchorage -- Simplifies installation, saving time and money on a project.
- No exposed fasteners on frame pieces
- Reusable for tenant lease spaces
- Shear fasteners provide longer life and reliability
- Fire-rated Composition -- Does not contain special fillers or joint compound required for fire-rating compliance. Can be used with positive or neutral pressure tested doors and hardware
- Versatility of Finishes -- Available in paint grade, high-pressure laminate or wood veneer. Veneered in any stain-grade wood species to match doors and millwork
- Universal Profile Dimensions -- Allows for standard size rough opening eliminating job site confusion. Available as single-rabbet, double-rabbet or communicator frame
- Wide Range of Door Size -- Available in any size, up to 9 feet (2743mm) tall, for single and pair openings
- No Maximum Jamb Width -- Adaptable to any wall thickness exceeding minimum requirements
- Lower Cost -- Unique materials provide required protection at a significantly lower cost. Our installation system further reduces installed costs
- WSCP's patented construction, providing positive pressure fire ratings when paired with either positive pressure or negative pressure doors and hardware
Door sets are available in a wide variety of configurations, to provide flexibility of design together with the secure knowledge of performance under fire conditions. To our clients that means absolute confidence that the products and systems will perform precisely to specification. Available in single leaf or pairs, meeting stiles can be T-section, rebated or square.
Stiles and rails
We offer a full line of both Neutral Pressure and Positive Pressure laminated
stiles and rails. The stiles and rails come with wood features, in a variety of
different species and can install intumescent in components for your positive
pressure Cat. A openings.
Raw Mineral Door Core
We currently provide 60, 90 & 120 minute rated raw mineral core to fill our customers fire rating requirements. The 60 minute core is one of the lightest, yet most durable mineral cores on the market today. They weigh up to 25% less than other typical cores available in the fire rated core industry without sacrificing strength and durability. In addition, freight and waste savings are also realized.
1-3/4"(44mm) thickness up to 90-minutes
Other manufacturers force you to make the jump to 2-1/4"(54mm) thick doors for higher fire ratings. We have specially engineered our fire doors to maintain a standard 1-3/4"(44mm) thickness up to a 90-minute fire rating.
Custom capabilities
We can work custom design feature into our 20-through 90-minute doors. Send us your desired design and fire rating and our engineers will show you how we can carry it through all of the doors on your project.
- Overpanels & Moldings -- We can supply doors with matching overpanels to meet your
design requirements; we are also able to incorporate moldings to the door face to add style to even budget installations. - Lippings -- Our doors are supplied with concealed lippings as standard.
Exposed edge lippings can also be supplied to meet your design
requirements. Hardwood edge lippings are used for veneered doors.
However, an exact colour match cannot be guaranteed as the timber
used for the veneer is taken from a different part of the log than the
solid timber used for lippings. But we will make every effort to ensure
your complete satisfaction. - Glazing System -- We can manufacture doors to include virtually any glazing
design - subject to fire assessment restrictions. Doors will be glazed
in the factory. Glazing systems incorporate hardwood beads, with
vision panels created using state-of-the-art CNC machining for
consistent accuracy and quality. All fire rated doors are glazed in
accordance with current regulations and to comply to manufacturers
specifications. - Acoustic Performance -- Our acoustic doors comprise standard doors fitted with
acoustic perimeter seals, and provide sufficient sound insulation (up
to 35dB SRI Rw) for the majority of applications. They can combine
30 or 60 minutes fire resistance with sound insulation, and provide
the same high quality of appearance and mechanical performance
as all our doors.
